Micron NVMe SSDs for laptops, workstations, and portables

Micron Technology has developed two NVMe SSDs for laptops, workstations, and other consumer portable devices. The two new solid-state disks (SSDs) – the Micron 2300 SSD and Micron 2210 QLC SSD, will provide NVMe-level performance for client applications. These will free up thin laptops, workstations and other portable computing devices from the slow and inefficient legacy memory architectures.

“Ninety percent of the client platforms will ship with NVMe SSDs next year, and the market will quickly split into mass and low-budget segments,” said Roger Peene, vice president of marketing for the Micron Storage Business Unit. “Our two new client SSDs, 2300 and 2210, are optimized for each of these segments. The 2300 delivers outstanding power, and the 2210 delivers superior value for money through industry-leading Micron QLC NAND technology. ”

Both SSDs are based on the innovative 96-layer 3D NAND memory, which provides significant energy savings and allows you to put the required capacity into a compact form factor M.2. They also provide advanced client security and data protection capabilities with support for TCG Opal 2.0 and TCG Pyrite 2.0.

Micron 2300 SSD is designed for applications that work intensively with data (video editing, CAD, graphic design), is available in the nominal range from 256 GB to 2 TB, supports sequential read speeds up to 3300 MB / s and write speeds up to 2700 MB / s.

Micron 2210 SSD has a low cost, typical for HDD, but consumes 15 times less energy, providing performance, reliability and safety at the NVMe level. It uses the high-density and low-cost QLC architecture, which has proven itself in Micron drives for data centers.

Micron believes that this product is the ideal solution to improve the download speeds and responsiveness of applications that place high demands on the performance of data storage devices. Its capacity varies from 512 GB to 2 TB, and its maximum performance thanks to the cache with dynamic write acceleration optimized for the QLC architecture, is 2200 MB / s (sequential read) and 1800 MB / s (sequential write).
